The Specialized Turbo Levo, a flow trail rider's dream, effortlessly navigates lips, roots, and rocks with its lightweight design, albeit with a reduced battery range compared to competitors, making it ideal for those seeking a playful ride with motor assistance.
Extremely light
Fun and poppy suspension kinematics
Available range extender
360 Wh battery range may not be enough for some riders
Less supple in chunky terrain than the travel numbers would suggest

May 2026
This now-discounted, longish-travel, fire-breathing eMTB does many things well
Powerful and refined Brose 3.1 motor with 120 N·m torque and 840 Wh battery
Excellent climbing grip and controllable power delivery
Exceptional cornering ability with MX setup and short chainstays
Out-of-the-box geometry adjustability (head angle, BB height, chainstay length)
In-frame SWAT storage and stem multi-tool
Easily removable battery with range extender option
Smart charger with fast charging (80% in 60 min) and Eco/Standard/Fast modes
App-based tuning with Micro Tune and Dynamic Micro Tune
High-end components including Fox Factory suspension, SRAM XX drivetrain, DT Swiss wheels
Very high price, even after discounts
Pitching forward on steep, rough descents and in deep holes
Feels unbalanced for some testers; tippy up front
Shorter travel (150mm rear) limits capability in very steep, rough terrain
Apple Find My feature difficult to set up
3D-printed saddle holes can trap mud and spray water
Occasional drivetrain clunks
App auto-start requires 'always' location permission

Apr 2026 · Robin Ulbrich
Specialized clearly categorise the new Turbo Levo 4 EVO with the “E” for Enduro: maximum downhill capability, with climbing more of a means to an end.
Outstanding stability and confidence on steep terrain
Incredibly capable downhill
Lots of grip and high margin for error
Quiet, finely controllable motor
Climbing is more of a means to an end
Less agile than shorter-travel Levo models
Noticeable suspension bob on climbs
No fast charger despite premium price

Specialized races to the top of the mountain and the top of the price leaderboard with its new $20,000 S-Works Turbo Levo 4 LTD.

Jul 2025
With its latest generation e-MTB, Specialized has the likes of Amflow and Bosch set well within its sights as the S-Works Turbo Levo 4 boasts big power and serious integration. With that, it provides an approachable and easy to get on with ride that’ll please a serious range of riders, new and experienced. However, you’ll have to pay for the privilege, the GENIE tech may be an acquired taste, and it’s not quite as light as I would expect for the rather serious outlay.

Specialized enters the 100Nm of torque club with its newly launched 3.1 motor More torque, more power. It’s a move that we expected to see across eMTB motor manufacturers ever since DJI launched its Avinox, which can reach up to 120 Nm of torque with a max output of 1000 watts. With up to 111Nm
Increased torque (up to 111Nm) and power (720W)
Natural, responsive motor feel
Fast charging (80% in under 1 hour with 5A charger, 12A optional)
SWAT downtube storage for tools and pump
Well-specced components, no need for immediate upgrades
Intuitive handling, great on steep technical climbs
Light and fun trail feel
Price reduction on S-Works ($13,499) and Comp ($7,999) models
Modular battery system (840Wh, 600Wh, extender)
Motor tended to get louder over time (previous Gen 2.2 motor, but not confirmed for Gen 4)
Stock tires are 2.3” instead of 2.4”, may need swapping for rocky terrain

Apr 2025 · Robin Weaver
The new Turbo Levo 4 ups its power and torque figures, as well as its on-trail prowess
Incredibly well balanced suspension
Geometry adjustment that makes a difference
Smooth power delivery
Power delivered across wide cadence window
Quiet
Astonishingly pricey
