The Specialized Turbo Levo, a flow trail rider's dream, effortlessly navigates lips, roots, and rocks with its lightweight design, albeit with a reduced battery range compared to competitors, making it ideal for those seeking a playful ride with motor assistance.
Extremely light
Fun and poppy suspension kinematics
Available range extender
360 Wh battery range may not be enough for some riders
Less supple in chunky terrain than the travel numbers would suggest

Deniz takes the Levo R on a 12-day excursion to photograph the BC Bike Race. It's a head turner, it's an account drainer, and it sure is a lot of bike for the right person.

The all-new 2026 Specialized Levo R is a rally-style eMTB built for riders who want a more connected feel from a full-power ebike.

With its latest generation e-MTB, Specialized has the likes of Amflow and Bosch set well within its sights as the S-Works Turbo Levo 4 boasts big power and serious integration. With that, it provides an approachable and easy to get on with ride that’ll please a serious range of riders, new and experienced. However, you’ll have to pay for the privilege, the GENIE tech may be an acquired taste, and it’s not quite as light as I would expect for the rather serious outlay.

The more economical options in the Levo line still deliver serious power, a massive battery, and Specialized’s second-to-none frame design for all-mountain riding. Specialized’s Turbo Levo Gen 4 is the kind of sequel that doesn’t just continue a legacy, it reasserts it. The previous model was already a fan favorite, renowned for its balanced geometry,
Elite motor performance. The Specialized 3.1 mid-drive motor delivers 666W peak power and 101Nm of torque. It has punchy yet refined output with buttery smooth engagement across cadences.
Adjustable geometry. Riders can dial in their preferred ride feel with flip chips at the shock and seat stays, plus a 3-position adjustable head tube angle.
Quiet, natural ride feel. Despite its power, the motor remains impressively quiet and intuitive, helping the bike feel nimble and planted even on techy terrain.
Big battery, long range. The 840Wh battery provided one of our longest range results to date in max assist, with flexibility to add a 280Wh range extender or downsize to a 600Wh battery to save weight.
App & display integration. The MasterMind display is clean and informative, while the Specialized app unlocks deep customization, ride tracking, auto-lock security features, and Apple Find My integration.
SWAT storage & smart design touches. Hidden storage in the downtube means you can ditch the pack for shorter rides, and a tool hides inside the stem cap for convenient battery access.
Great suspension with GENIE tech. Fox 36 Rhythm fork and Float X shock with Specialized’s GENIE system offer plush support and better bottom-out resistance.
Mullet wheel setup feels agile. The 29” front / 27.5” rear setup, paired with shorter chainstays, keeps the handling snappy and fun despite the bike’s heft.
Bottle cage fitment is tight. The built-in storage and frame shape may limit you to smaller water bottles.
Stem tool can stick. The SWAT tool hidden in the stem needed some grease to function smoothly out of the box.

111 Nm torque, 720 watts peak output, and a hefty €14,499 price tag – the all-new 2025 Specialized Turbo Levo 2025 has finally landed. And of course, we’ve put it through its paces for you.

Specialized’s Turbo Levo is so successful, so ubiquitous, and so dominant at the top of the e-bike hierarchy that launching a new version is a momentous event, with millions of dollars riding on how it’s received. And that’s in a normal market. But the gen 4 Turbo Levo is hatching into a world so completely transformed that it’s unrecognisable. Where up is down and black is white, and DJI is the only word on the lips of anyone in the market for a new e-bike. Has Specialized done enough to recover the attention it’s enjoyed across three generations of e-bike? Is it still the best e-bike on the market? It’s fair to say no stone had been left unturned in its quest to make the new Turbo Levo a success, so let’s not waste anymore time and get stuck straight into the details. – Short of time? Click here to skip to the verdict – Specialized S-Works Turbo Levo Need to know All-new motor designed by Specialized and built by Brose Power goes up to 720W and torque climbs to 111Nm Three battery options: 840Wh, 600Wh, and 280Wh Side-loading battery Full carbon frame with 150mm travel and 160mm fork MX wheels and fully adjustable geometry Genie shock technology lets you tune the air spring and gives extra traction without sacrificing progression Internal storage with all battery options Colour display similar to Apple iWatch Fast charger gives 0-80% in less than 1 hour S-Works complete bike (S4) weighs 23.7kg Range of 4 carbon bikes starts at £6,799 S-Works frame-only costs £6,799 Hopefully those bullet points give some sense of just how much has changed on this new Turbo Levo, but if you want to read about the other models in the Turbo Levo range, check out our news story here. When the gen 3 Turbo Levo came out in 2021, it felt like a massive update, with totally different geometry and tons of adjustment. But it still had the same motor and battery as the gen 2. This bike, on the other hand, has a completely new frame, 100% new motor and battery, and a completely redesigned interface. So it’s slightly ironic that, to look at it, the new Turbo Levo doesn’t seem particularly special. I don’t think it has the wow factor. Mostly because it looks like a Levo SL that’s spent too long at the buffet. We’ve seen the Genie shock, we’ve seen the adjustable geo, we’ve seen the new Specialized signature side-profile with the Sidearm removed. To be brutally honest, I found it a little underwhelming. True, that’s partly because Specialized sets the bar so high to begin with, not to mention the fact that so much of the hard work is hidden below the surface. It’s still a good-looking bike, but is it exciting? Does it make me look back over my shoulder as I walk away in the garage? One to ponder… Frame and geometry While the silhouette looks familiar to the Levo SL and Stumpjumper …Continue reading »
• Better in every way than the Turbo Levo gen 3, other than weight
• Removable battery is highly practical and adds storage
• Using the range extender alone turns the Turbo Levo into a Levo SL
• Packs a powerful punch
• Fully adjustable and tunable
• New colour screen is bright and easy to read
• Only the S-Works bike gives you full power from the new motor
• Not as powerful as the DJI Avinox
• Harsh ride over high-frequency chatter
• Slight motor rattle

The S-Works motor has 111 Nm of torque and 720 watts of max power output.
Instant power delivery, and plenty of it
840 Wh battery as the stock configuration
Very adaptable, whether that's geometry or battery size
Heavier than expected
Deserves more travel
Class 3 option shouldn't be a feature
