[First Ride] Specialized Turbo Kenevo SL S-Works

May 2021 · Ian Collins

A few weeks ago I was invited to an incredible riding riding location to test a very interesting new bike. The new-to-me place was Port Angeles, home of the legendary “Underworld Cup” – a U.S. National race that happened each year around Sea Otter time and, due to its timing, attracted top World Cup talent. The bike is the all new Specialized Turbo Kenevo Super Light. Upon a quick glance it could almost pass for an Enduro – for good reason, as you can see. Building upon the Enduro’s new suspension framework, the wizards at Specialized managed to fit the

Specialized Turbo Kenevo Expert (2020) review - MBR

Oct 2020 · Alan Muldoon

Specialized Turbo Kenevo Expert isn't just slapping on a 180mm-travel RockShox Boxxer fork and calling it a day though. It's a completely redesigned frame.

Highs
  • Progressive sizing and geometry

Lows
  • Needs a lighter shock tune

Specialized Turbo Kenevo Expert on test – bottle cage meets dual crown fork

Jan 2020 · Christoph Bayer

A bottle cage and a dual crown fork – thanks to the motor, these aren't contradictory features on the Specialized Turbo Kenevo. We were very excited to see if it could beat the competition.

Highs
  • Unlimited downhill capabilities

  • Confidence-inspiring on the descents

  • Powerful motor

  • Shuttle mode

Lows
  • Brakes are too weak for the intended use

  • Boring on easier trails

Specialized Turbo Kenevo Expert Review

Nov 2019

Price: $7550.00 | Model Year: 2019 | A purpose built, strong and sturdy, full suspension, all mountain with some enduro, agile and balanced with it’s 50/50 weight distribution, smooth and powerful mid-drive electric mountain bike

Observations
  • A purpose built, strong and sturdy, full suspension, all mountain with some enduro, agile and balanced with it’s 50/50 weight distribution, smooth and powerful mid-drive electric mountain bike

  • This is an extremely sturdy and overbuilt setup, thanks to points of interest like this X bar frame design, the super wide 34.9mm seat post, and through axles in not just the wheels, but even the battery housing

  • Brose S ALU mid-drive motor with plenty of power and 3 modes of assist, paired with hydraulic disc brakes and SRAM GX 11 speed derailleur

  • You can’t really dump gears quickly with the SRAM GX setup, the bike is an expensive investment, and the battery can be removed by anybody with the right sized hex tool

First Ride: Specialized Turbo Kenevo sends like a big bike, but pedals like a trail bike

Oct 2019

After a few days of pure XC and then all out Enduro riding, Specialized had something different in mind for our final day in Tahoe. This would not only be the longest ride of the week, but it would have the most climbing – and it would all be done on an e-bike with a …

Specialized Turbo Kenevo Comp review

May 2019 · Felix Stix

The key figures of the Specialized Turbo Kenevo Comp look like those of a true bike park bike. But don't let that fool you!

  • Super versatile despite the long travel

  • Very natural ride feel

  • Mission Control App and integration

Lows
  • Dirt collects above the main pivot of the rear triangle

  • Undefined feeling shifter (SLX)

  • Tires are puncture-prone and lack transition-knobs
