Review: Norco Fluid FS C1

Dec 2023 · Drew Rohde & Nic Hall

We’ve had a good time ripping around on our Norco Fluid FS Carbon review bike, and now we’re ready to share our thoughts and impressions on this 130mm travel trail bike. Last year, Norco made some serious waves when they released their completely redesigned and feature-packed Fluid FS Alloy line of bikes. Following the success of the Fluid Alloy and seeking to bring the design, engineering and other elements that made the Fluid FS Alloy an award-winning bike from many media outlets, Norco upped the ante, and yes, the MSRP, on the Fluid Carbon. Let’s dive in.

Highs
  • Insanely playful rear end

  • Poppy, lively, snappy

  • Corners

  • Jumps

  • Pedals well

  • Well-rounded trail bike

  • Stiffer than alloy

Lows
  • Not as great value as alloy builds

  • Stiffer than alloy

  • Can’t get this green color in USA

Sep 2023 · Ron Koch

The travel and geometry are similar to Norco’s carbon-framed Optic, but the ride characteristics of the Fluid are unique to this bike and stay true to the feel we’ve come to expect from the Canadian mega-brand.

Norco Fluid FS A1: Equipped for Cost Effective (Mis)Adventure

Jun 2023

Norco’s revamped Fluid FS A1 made waves when released in the summer of 2022. This no-nonsense trail bike is packed with features and components normally reserved for more expensive options and the global bike media took notice.

Highs
  • Excellent component spec for the price (Fox Factory 34, Shimano XT, TRP Trail Evo 4-piston brakes)

  • Modern aggressive trail geometry with size-specific chainstay and seat tube angles

  • Intuitive Ride-Aligned Design suspension setup tool

  • Balanced and comfortable body position

  • Gobs of traction from soft suspension top end

Lows
  • Suspension wallows when hammering, less efficient under power compared to DW-link

  • Vittoria tires have soft sidewalls that fold during aggressive cornering

  • Fox 34 fork can be overwhelmed when riding very aggressively
