Flow Mountain Bike
Tested: Norco Torrent 7.1

Jun 2016

We aren’t joking, this hardtail is a serious trail bike. Why? Huge amounts of grip, slack and incredibly comfortable geometry and a spot-on stock build. This is a bike every mountain biker will enjoy and appreciate. Originally a staple in the Hardtail Category of your local DH races, the early versions of the Norco Torrent were …

Highs
  • Climb anything, descend anything.

  • Grips under pressure like a hardtail shouldn't be able to.

  • The perfect modern hardtail do-it-all geometry.

  • Componentry build on point.

Lows
  • 3.0" tyres are not at home on smooth terrain or high speed berms at low pressures.

  • Tyres desensitise you to the trail.

  • Grips are flimsy and twist easily.

Norco Torrent 7.2 review

Mar 2016 · Guy Kesteven

Excellent chassis and handling combined with plus tyres create an unstoppable full gas blaster despite a sub-standard fork. Buy if you want a fun plus-sized budget blaster and don't mind upgrading the fork

Highs
  • Thoughtfully designed frame, roomy cockpit, excellent climbing and descending performance

Lows
  • Basic – and soon broken – fork, fat rubber can feel draggy, wooden brakes
