Aventon Abound LR Review | Connected, Capable, & Secure

Mar 11, 2025 · John S. Bozick

This sturdy cargo e-bike packs the punch needed for hauling while offering high-tech security features uncommon at its price point. In recent years, cargo e-bikes have become all the rage. They allow families to spend more time together while enjoying the outdoors. They encourage a healthy lifestyle while also being environmentally friendly. And they share

Highs
  • The Abound LR feels responsive and powerful—a great combination on a bike meant to haul cargo or passengers effectively. Its 750W motor delivers power intuitively, thanks to its adaptive torque sensor.

  • The integrated ACU module with 4G connectivity allows users to access security, location tracking, and customization features through the Aventon app.

  • The bike’s gravity cast frame isn’t just for looks; the Abound feels solid and sturdy when carrying cargo, thanks to its internal reinforcement and telescoping quill stem.

  • This bike can go the distance! With its 708-Wh battery, the Abound LR gave us one of the longest Range Test results we’ve seen from a cargo e-bike.

  • We found the ride to be comfortable due to the Abound’s suspension seatpost and suspension fork with 50mm of travel.

  • The Abound LR’s 440-lb payload capacity is on par with many similar cargo bikes, but not all others come with so many accessories! The bike includes wheel guards, footboards, and a lockable frame storage bag.

  • Aventon offers a variety of additional compatible accessories, including standards like seat pads and cargo baskets, plus uncommon options like the front pizza rack.

Lows
  • Riders around 6’ and above may not have full leg extension with the bike’s 350mm suspension seatpost. We encourage Aventon to use a longer seatpost in the future.

Aventon Abound LR Review: Stretched-Out Cargo Power

Mar 11, 2025

Check out our in-depth Aventon Abound LR review, a 2025 cargo e-bike with a 440-lb payload, 60-mile range, and smart features like 4G connectivity, geofencing security and app tuning.

Observations
  • The Abound LR’s gravity-cast frame is a standout, formed by pouring molten aluminum into a mold for a seamless, stiffer structure that really shines under load. I felt the difference on rides with cargo—no flex, just a solid, confident handling that makes it a step up from the welded frames of older models. It’s a subtle engineering flex that pays off when you’re hauling 440 lbs.

  • The keyless battery system ditches physical keys for an electronic lock you control via the app or BC147 display, adding a layer of modern convenience and security. It’s a small but clever touch that makes popping the 708Wh battery out for storage or charging feel futuristic, and it’s shared across Aventon’s last four bikes—smart for swaps and spares. I’ll be honest, I appreciate not fumbling with another key on my keychain.

  • With the Aventon App, you can tweak the 750W motor’s output to match your riding style, saving custom profiles, all backed by a smooth torque sensor. I was able to cover about 75 miles in Eco mode on flat ground, way past the 60-mile claim, showing how that tuning pairs with the 80 Nm of torque to stretch range or power as needed. It’s like having a bike that learns your style.

  • The 7-inch-longer rear rack and 440-lb payload turn this into a legit urban workhorse, and the included footboards and optional captain’s chair make it kid-ready out of the gate. I hauled 40 lbs of cargo plus my 180-lb self up hills without much sweat, and the 50mm suspension fork kept it comfy—perfect for city riders juggling groceries or family. It’s a hauler that doesn’t skimp on practicality or ride quality. See Latest Price
