Summary
The Specialized Enduro is celebrated for its exceptional downhill performance, blending downhill-bike plow with trail-bike play, and offering impressive pedaling efficiency. Its suspension design, lifted from the Demo downhill race bike, provides a smooth ride over rough terrain, making it a top choice for enduro racing. However, some reviews note it feels like a big bike, potentially requiring sizing down for more playfulness, and its climbing capabilities, while decent, are not its strongest suit.
Exceptional downhill performance
Impressive pedaling efficiency
Smooth suspension design
Blend of downhill-bike plow and trail-bike play
Comfortable at high speeds
Feels like a big bike, may require sizing down
Climbing capabilities are decent but not outstanding
No 27.5-inch wheel size option
Descending the Enduro is a laugh-out-loud kind of experience not just because of how secure it feels, but because it contains a very special blend of downhill-bike plow and trail-bike play.

The new Specialized Enduro is a big bike in many ways. Yes, it has a lot of travel, big wheels and stacked numbers. But it is also big in a metaphysical sense, as it proves beyond a doubt that a bike can exist in two different realms at once. This is because it’s also light, snappy, poppy and playful, all in despite of what the numbers might say. As an evolutionary tangent of Specialized’s downhill beast, the Demo, it’s not a surprise that this bike is one of the hardest charging and most capable two-wheeled contraptions we’ve tested. 170mm of travel, a 1274mm wheel base and a head tube angle of 63.9 degrees will do that. Yet what really stands out about the Enduro is how comfortable it is in every situation—climbing included.

With 29in wheels and 170mm travel the latest Specialized Enduro S-Works 29 is a scaled down version of the new Specialized Demo 29 DH bike.
Fast in every situation.
Inconsistent XTR brakes.

For its biggest, baddest Enduro ever, Specialized scrapped the hugely successful, yet rather long-in-the-tooth X-Wing frame and began anew. Inspired by

The new Enduro is a chaos calming beast of a bike when the terrain gets ugly. This S-Works model is eye-wateringly expensive, though
Great, stretched out confidence-inspiring geometry
Super supple suspension that helps iron out seriously rough trails with relative ease
Climbs pretty well for such a big travel big hitter
Works best when ridden in anger
Super expensive spec not without issue
50mm stem is too long
