Summary

The Specialized Rhyme fatbike is praised for its solid design, women's-specific components, and the fun, confidence-inspiring ride it offers. Its FSR suspension platform and Plus tires provide excellent traction and comfort, though the low bottom bracket height can lead to pedal strikes. The bike is noted for its climbing efficiency and descending confidence, making it a versatile choice for trail riding.

Pros
  • Solid design accessible to riders in the fun-size category

  • FSR suspension platform is firm and efficient under pedaling

  • Plus tires add comfort and grip

  • Women’s-specific components and suspension tune

  • SWAT compartment in the downtube for storage

Cons
  • Low bottom bracket height causes pedal strikes

  • Heavier than some competitors

  • Plus tires may limit performance on very steep trails

Specialized Rhyme Carbon Comp 6Fattie/29 review

May 2018 · Aoife Glass

Fun, fast and versatile plus-bike, but let down a little on the spec. Buy if you want a capable bike that gives a confident, plush, fast ride and are happy to invest in spec upgrades to a good frame

Highs
  • Option to run 29er wheels, plus-sized tyres provide incredible grip in corners and in slick conditions, fun, fast and responsive ride

Lows
  • Forks aren’t great value for the price, autosag is a miss, important to get the right tyre pressure

Specialized Rhyme Comp 6Fattie

Feb 2018

The Rhyme is Specialized’s women’s specific Stumpjumper. That means it’s not designed for enduro, nor cross-country racing, but everything else in between; a good old fashioned trail bike with fun as the main priority, and it hits that nail on the head during every ride. Buying your first mountain bike: everything you need to know When should you replace your bicycle helmet? We asked the experts Review: Trek Fuel EX 5 Women’s 27.5 Plus Though it is a women’s specific trail bike, you don’t need to worry about being patronised with “feminine” paint jobs or upright, shopper-style geometry.
