The Specialized Women’s Epic Comp Carbon is a task master, a bike where nothing other than full speed will do. It will be your best training partner and likely podium companion, if you don’t mind the clunk in the 'Brain' shock and choose the right setting for the race conditions too. Is the Specialized S-Works Epic the fastest hardtail we've ever ridden? At 8.23kg (18.1lb) for the complete bike, it is most definitely the lightest.

We’ve assembled, set up and had a couple of quick laps of the race track on the most anticipated arrival to the XC circuit this season, ahead of our full review here’s what we are in for. Mad light, S-Works light. 10kg (including carbon water bottle cage) is very exciting for a bike you can …
10kg of the best.
Clean and neat.
Ultimate efficiency.
Chain slap noise.
A little bland looking perhaps?

Brand’s flagship XC bike loses weight and gets aggressive, VERNON, New Jersey – Debuting a XC bike at a downhill park may seem like a short cut to failure. But for Specialized Bicycles, the classic East Coast gnar at the Mountain Creek Resort near Vernon, N.J. was the perfect venue to host Specialized Summer Camp and demonstrate the uncanny capabilities of its redesigned 2018 Epic.

Blistering straight-line-speed-focused suspension and handling character, but technically unforgiving. Buy if you're after a race bike that offers plenty of straight-line-speed-focused suspension and and don't mind the harder handling
Unique stand-up proof, auto bump-sensing Brain suspension
Forgiving frame feel
Super-fast tyres
Unforgiving old-school handling
Flexy front end
Noticeable suspension clunk

So it was big news when Specialized released its new race hardtail and for the first time ever it didn’t carry the legendary name.
