Summary
The Specialized Enduro is celebrated for its impressive climbing and descending capabilities, with a design that balances stability on rough descents with efficient uphill performance. Its updated geometry and suspension tuning, including models with Ohlins components, receive high marks for handling and comfort. However, some reviews note concerns with component specs like dropper post travel and shock setup, as well as the bike's weight in certain builds.
Impressive climbing and descending capability
Updated geometry and suspension tuning
Stable on rough descents
Good value for the price
Versatile for a wide variety of riding
Base-model spec can’t hide the weight felt in the wheels and drivetrain
Desire for a firmer shock setting for climbing
Command Post dropper post is unrefined and has short travel
The consensus on the Comp 29 was that it was nearly as impressive climbing challenging terrain as it was descending it.
The new Enduro linkage is more robust, claims Specialized, and every pivot uses the same bearing size.Bicycling
Ohlins new RXF 36 fork is seriously impressive and superbly composed, even when the trail gets properly choppy

Specialized had already redesigned its popular Enduro platform for 2017, but the big-S (well, one of the Big-S’s anyway) decided it could go one better for 2018. With a new...

The Enduro Comp offers stability and comfort on the roughest of trails but doesn't feel as taut or lively as it could do. Buy if you want a comfortable big wheeler that'll handle the big hits without beating you up too much in the process
Well-balanced suspension, easy to set up, great tyres for a variety of conditions, new geometry makes a difference
Doesn't feel as precise or as accurate as others in this category, cheaper bikes come with the more refined Lyrik

Our longterm test verdict on the Specialized Enduro Comp 650b; Specialized's enduro machine sucks up big hits without compromising sensitivity.
A day at BikePark Wales really showed this bike at its best.
Pedalling efficiency of a 170mm travel bike.
Boost axle and fitting 2.6in tyres, really transforming the ride.
Sizing. XL size was new for this year so I was really disappointed when I swung my leg over for the first time and it didn’t feel right.
Despite Specialized’s ‘size specific’ philosophy they still fit a 125mm dropper.
Alloy frame means no SWAT box storage like its carbon framed syblings.

After reviewing a few key changes to make the bikes more modern, the 2018 Specialized Enduro mountain bikes looked great on paper, but we wanted to get them out on the trail. This was actually my first ride on an Enduro, so I was really keen to get aboard and see why so many people …
