The New Salsa Moraine C All-Mountain eMTB Gets Lighter with Full Carbon Frame

Apr 2026 · Ron Frazelle

Salsa sent us the new Moraine C XO AXS to test, and when it got here, we were stoked at how good it looked, and it rode as good as it looked

Highs
  • Rides like an analog bike

  • Lightweight for an eMTB (44lbs 14oz)

  • Excellent climbing and descending

  • Split-pivot suspension is efficient and active under braking

  • Fazua Ride 60 drive unit is quiet and rewards high cadence

  • Good range for lower assist modes

  • On-bike cargo mounts

  • Geometry well-balanced for all-mountain riding

  • Comfortable carbon bar

Lows
  • Creaking noise when pedaling under load (pre-production issue)

  • SRAM Code SLV brakes lack modulation (on test bike; spec now Maven Silver)

  • Firmware update requires laptop and USB-C cable

  • Ring controller occasionally finicky

  • Bike sometimes won't turn on after sitting (suspected bad controller)

  • High price ($10,999 for XO AXS model)
