A reserved, reliable, and hard working commuter e-bike with a new hi-vis color! We published our original RadCity 5+ ST review in early 2022, but with a new special edition of the bike now available, it’s time for a fresh take on this well-established commuter! After running the bike through our series of standardized tests
Reliable and steady power from the 750W rear-hub motor. It’ll get you moving quickly, but not TOO fast.
A comfortable ride for long commutes with a well-designed saddle, ergonomic grips, and a mostly-upright riding position.
Pros of the Special Edition include a high-visibility Tiger Orange paint job, a stable standard stem, and low-rise 730mm ergonomic handlebars for excellent control and steering response.
Easy to hop on/off with a step-thru frame that has a 16” standover height.
A high-tech look and feel with Rad’s dual displays.
More room than usual for cargo on the rear rack; instead of 55 lbs, it holds up to 59.5 lbs.
We liked the comfort and modulation of the twist throttle.
The bike’s brakes performed decently, but we recommend that Rad use tires with better grip to improve its average stopping distance.
Critique from our original review in 2022 still applies – we challenge Rad to improve the cable management.

Price: $1999.00 | Model Year: 2021, 2022 | The classic high-step version of the proven RadCity hybrid electric bike featuring frame, wheel, brake, and battery upgrades for its 5th generation. Available in black only, this model comes in one frame size but offers an adjustable angle stem and extra long 390mm seat post. A growing fleet of mobile service vans and storefronts in the US, Canada, and Europe make trying, buying, and maintaining this ebike more convenient. Redesigned wire routing, motor power cable, and removable downtube cover improve serviceability and reliability. Puncture resistant reflective tires, motor inhibiting brakes with rear light activation, and larger displays with more precise battery readouts elevate safety and usability.
Hydraulic disc brakes require less hand effort, offer fit adjustability, and perform more consistently over time. Multiple rack attachment points and extensive range of cross-compatible accessories set this brand apart. Wide 11-34 tooth gearing makes starting and climbing easy. Sturdy chainring guide reduces chain drops and bottom bracket damage while keeping your clothing clean. Comes with flexible plastic fenders that stay fairly quiet.
Custom 750 watt geared hub motor is 1.4lbs lighter, eliminates magnetic drag, and offers 37% more torque than prior model year, but no longer regenerates when braking. The cost of the bike has increased a bit, and the battery pack design is not backwards compatible. The display does not have a USB charging port built in, and you can no longer adjust top speed. Updated controller is hidden inside the frame for durability and appearance.
