Tested: Nukeproof Mega 290 Carbon Factory

Mar 2021 · Travis Engel

The Nukeproof Mega 290 Carbon serves up a lot of mini-dh-bike performance, but with none of the too-deep, too-vague suspension.

Highs
  • Burly frame feel

  • Highly precise for a long-travel 29er

  • Excellent, well thought out climbing geometry

  • Works well at high and low speeds

  • Decent value

Lows
  • Can be hard to get in some countries

2021 Nukeproof Mega 290 Alloy Comp review

Dec 2020

The 2021 Nukeproof Mega 290 Alloy is a hard hitting all-mountain 29er ready to tame your local tech. It's not light but pedals supremely well, while the progressive geometry makes it a great all-rounder as well as an enduro shredder. Five things that weren't cool - until enduro happened Nine cheapskate alternatives to proper cycling products Five ways to survive winter riding if you hate mud The Mega 290 Alloy Comp is the base model of the two aluminum bikes in the lineup, and comes in at a penny under £2,700.

Nukeproof Mega 290C Factory review - MBR

Aug 2020 · Mick Kirkman

The new Nukeproof Mega 290C Factory is part of range that gets a travel boost, carbon models and Sam Hill-honed geometry.

Highs
  • Calm and composed at all speeds

Lows
  • Michelin tyres not ideal in all conditions

Review: Nukeproof Mega 290c Factory

Jul 2020 · Dan Roberts

There was no need to really shunt the seat forwards to achieve a good position or adopt an obscure setup quirk to make the bike feel right..

Highs
  • A fast, stable and predictable bike

  • Solid and dependable spec for the price

  • Racing pedigree, if you’re into that

Lows
  • Needs to be up to speed to bring it alive

  • Water bottle in the firing line if you choose to run one

Nukeproof Mega 290C Pro on test – an enduro bike to make corners go into hiding!

Jan 2020 · Christoph Bayer

Good things made even better – the new Nukeproof Mega 290C Pro is the logical evolution of its aluminium predecessor. It's so good that it's been Sam Hill's bike of choice for the 2019 EWS. But how does it fare against the competition?

Highs
  • Easy to ride fast

  • Very balanced

  • Excellent suspension

Lows
  • Cumbersome in certain situations

  • No bottle mount in the front triangle
