If there is a single attribute that defines Mondraker, it’s how the Spanish brand has differentiated itself by pushing the boundaries of bike design. Beyond Mondraker’s modern aesthetic, intricate carbon layup and proprietary suspension lies a prophetic design philosophy that gives its bikes a distinct personality and ride characteristics fit for a specific purpose: carrying a hell of a lot of speed and fearlessly sending steep terrain.

Spending some time on my home trails with the Mondraker Foxy RR SL seemed to answer the question - how long is too long when it comes to MTB geo?

I spent the first part of this year onboard the Mondraker Foxy, so when the 29er version arrived at Singletrack I was quick to claim it

Forward Geometry impresses on the whole, but spec shortcomings let this model down

After giving back the glorious Yeti SB 5.5 I’ve built up a new beast that will keep me company for the coming year: a Mondraker Foxy 29 carbon. I’ve already tested the bike a few months ago, but the results of that test (in short: I liked it a lot) prompted me to ask the Italian distributor for a frame to build up with custom components that you’ll find in several tests over the coming months. The frame is the flagship offering with a Fox X2 coil sprung rear shock with lever for a speedy lockout, set to my weight: 30% of sag and with any type of adjustment you could

A longer and lighter frame with more travel dispatches demanding terrain, but the Foxy can still pedal.

But it still feels like a lot of bike on chill terrain, with no getting around the fact that 29'' wheels and 150mm or rear wheel travel (160mm up front) have more of a presence on the trail than something smaller.
Incredibly confidence inspiring on scary terrain
A monster of a bike when the trail is fast and rough
Very efficient under power
Not as all-around as other bikes w/ the same travel
Short seattube is too short (for me)
Relatively linear feeling rear suspension
