Momentum Vida E+ Review, 2025: Commuter Gets An Overhaul

Oct 2025 · Mike East

2025 Momentum Vida E+ review: Complete redesign swaps mid-drive for 500W rear hub motor with 8-speed Shimano drivetrain. Real-world tested with 57-mile range, full accessory setup, and honest pros/cons for daily commuting.

Observations
  • Momentum basically rebuilt the Vida E+ from the ground up for 2025, swapping out the old mid-drive and internal gear hub for a 500W rear hub motor with regular 8-speed Shimano Acera. The new motor setup is very quiet and smooth, showing the experience Momentum brings to the table in knowing the difference between what works and what shines, plus it's less complicated than the old setup.

  • All the practical perks are present, like an easy access step-through frame, front suspension, solid 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes, and optional front and rear MIK racks to carry any extra gear along the way.

  • The 687.9Wh battery is pretty clever with an external charge indicator so you don't have to guess, plus it stays strong until it's nearly dead (unlike some bikes that start dying at 15%). At 61 pounds it's not light, but the weight feels balanced and manageable.

  • The riding position just works, you sit upright, the swept bars feel natural, and the 26-inch wheels make it easy to navigate tight spots. The display and app do exactly what they're supposed to do without being overly complicated or trying to do too much. See Latest Price

Momentum Vida E+ Review | Bold Choices Paying Off

Oct 2025 · Griffin Hales

The revamped Vida E+ is more accessible than before, featuring a new motor that provides a good boost while maintaining a natural pedaling feel. Momentum’s refreshed Vida E+ brings a few key updates to its design. The former mid-drive has been swapped for a higher power 500W rear hub motor (750W peak) with 60Nm of

Highs
  • Strong motor performance: Solid power, speed, and an impressively natural feel thanks to well-tuned torque sensor integration.

  • Versatile design: Balances the comfort of a cruiser with the practicality of a commuter.

  • Superb braking: 4-piston hydraulic brakes are rare on this style of bike, and testing showed excellent stopping distances.

  • Clean styling: Internal cable routing and attractive paint options (3) give it a sharp look.

  • Comfortable ride: Two frame sizes, ergonomic grips, supportive geometry, and a high-quality fork all combine to create a smooth experience.

  • Expandable utility: The optional MIK rack system, panniers, mirrors, and other accessories allow you to easily scale it into a full commuter setup.

Lows
  • In higher gears (7th/8th), the chain can flop down and hit the chainstay; a guard would help protect the frame from grease or dings.

  • The bike rides extremely well, but in this price tier, including a throttle and headlight would have been nice to pad the value.
