Kona Rove LTD Review: Long-Term Roving

Jun 2021 · Joe Cruz

Joe spent six months last year on the Kona Rove LTD and took it on multiple bikepacking trips in New England and countless day rides. Here's the review.

Highs
  • Stable descending, especially with bikepacking bags

  • Premium finish

  • Solid design and spec choices, neither all the fads nor lamentable boomer grouchiness

Lows
  • Stiff

  • Sluggish and dull handling in twisty conditions

  • Not especially a bargain (but not absurd, either)

We took both bikes to Madeira and Porto Santo and gave it some proper gravel! We all know that […]

Highs
  • Superb off-road handling

  • Robust and tough

  • Comfortable riding position

Lows
  • Kona components are solid but standard fare

  • Lacks liveliness and feels too tame on the tarmac

Dec 2023 · Relaxed Stingray

This is a capable bike for road and gravel terrain. The steel frame makes for a very solid feeling bike that can push through some pretty rough grave

Highs
  • Very solid feel in steel. Nimble, and handles roads and gravel competently.

Lows
  • Slightly lower pedal ground clearance with the 650B's.
