Summary
The Giant TCX is celebrated for its lightweight carbon composite frameset, offering a significant reduction in weight while maintaining stiffness and agility. Its cyclocross-specific design, including a compliant D-Fuse SLR seat post and versatile tire clearance, makes it quick and responsive on varied terrains. However, it trades some comfort for its race-ready performance and lacks certain gravel-specific features like additional mounts.
Lightweight carbon composite frameset
Quick and agile handling
Versatile for cyclocross and gravel
Compliant frame and seatpost
Improved front-end stiffness
Lacks some comfort
Dabbles in gravel category but lacks mounts
Limited gear range for extended climbs
Taller, level top tube may threaten painful dismounts
That’s a 200g drop compared to the previous iteration, and that’s before we even talk about the lighter fork…
It lets me burn through singletrack and treat it almost like a hardtail mountain bike, but on the road, while I’m getting to the trails, apart from the hum of the tyres, I almost think that I’m riding a road bike.
The TCX felt nimble and stiff uphill, so I was surprised at its weight.

Quick and agile, light weight, good value.
Lacks some comfort, dabbles in gravel category but lacks any of the usual mounts.
