Excellent do-almost-everything endurance bike; practically the type specimen for the genre

Highs
  • Perfect handling for all-day riding

  • Versatile; unfazed by dirt roads and easier trails

  • 12-speed Shimano 105 Di2 is excellent and massively tunable

  • Set up for tubeless, just add sealant

Lows
  • Heavy wheels

  • Even wider gear range would be nice

Review: 2024 Giant Defy Advanced stays the course with steady refinements - Escape Collective

Sep 2023 · James Huang

Giant’s fifth-generation premium carbon fiber endurance road bike, updated with a lighter chassis, additional tire clearance, and a more refined ride quality.

Highs
  • Impressively lightweight

  • Composed ride quality

  • Quick handling

  • Some semblance of cockpit customization

  • Looks brilliant.

Lows
  • Composed-but-not-cushy ride quality

  • Handling is arguably too quick

  • Questionable wheelset spec

  • Still a proprietary stem.
