Summary
The Giant Defy is celebrated for its versatility and comfort, making it a top choice for endurance riding. It excels in muting road vibrations and offers a stable, nimble ride, though some models may have issues with cable routing and component quality. The bike's design focuses on long-distance comfort without sacrificing performance, with features like D-Fuse technology enhancing ride quality.
Versatile for different types of road riding
Comfortable for long rides
Fun to take on fast club rides and gran fondos
Lively and stiff
Engineered comfort with D-Fuse seatpost and pencil thin seatstays
Stealth Stem could frustrate do-it-yourself bike fitters
Somewhat twitchy front end without proper fit
Cable routing is terrible and messy
Non-groupset specific RS510 chainset looks cheap
The goal with the Giant Defy range of bikes was to create a line that was more versatile, something that worked well for different types of road riding.
It almost perfectly balances performance and comfort and the spec list at this price point is almost unbeatable.
The Defy has always been a great example of an endurance bike, but this model, with its combination of superb chassis and sharp, smart spec, is in my opinion the best endurance bike you can buy right now for less than £3,000.

Excellent do-almost-everything endurance bike; practically the type specimen for the genre
Perfect handling for all-day riding
Versatile; unfazed by dirt roads and easier trails
12-speed Shimano 105 Di2 is excellent and massively tunable
Set up for tubeless, just add sealant
Heavy wheels
Even wider gear range would be nice

Giant’s latest Defy is future-proof, versatile, fast and far less expensive than equivalently specced alternatives

What’s allowed Giant to spec such a premium drivetrain is the mix ‘n’ match nature of this bike’s braking system, which is made up of Giant’s own Conduct hydraulic disc brakes hooked up to the cable-actuated Ultegra brake levers.. .
Smooth ride, great position and good value with it
The cable-hydraulic brake system lacks feel and adds weight up front
