Fairdale Bikes' Elevator, their first mountain bike, emphasizes agility and fun, performing well on mellow trails but needing finesse on steep descents. Despite concerns about price and parts, the affordable frame-only option is appealing.

Highs

  • Unique, playful geometry makes techy clombs, flow trails, and dirt jumps a blast

  • Plenty of mounting points for tool/bag storage

  • $599 frame is a great value

Lows

  • Some components (fork and seat post specifically) don’t stand up to $3,299 price tag
