Summary
The Canyon Torque:ON is a high-performance enduro e-MTB designed for aggressive downhill riding, featuring plush suspension and a playful yet stable ride. It excels in technical descents and offers excellent value, though it faces challenges on steep climbs and has a limited battery range. The bike's geometry and suspension are tuned for e-MTB use, providing a unique blend of agility and stability.
capable downhill
plush and defined suspension
excellent value for money
playful yet stable ride
well-chosen spec
struggles on technical uphills
limited battery range
low bottom bracket causes pedal strikes
short-stroke dropper post
EP8 motor feels underpowered compared to competitors
The Torque:ON is targeted primarily at a fledgeling and price-sensitive group of riders who prefer to spend their days in the bike park or trail centre.
Talk the Torque – Canyon’s new e-MTB is a 175mm travel self-shuttling beast of a bike!
The Canyon Torque:ON 9 literally sticks to the trail. This makes it possible to rip through flat corners at full speed but also means that jumps require great physical effort.

We pointed the bike into a really rocky descent and we were a bit surprised. We’re so used to long travel 29er emtbs being super stable bikes that will straightline “anything”. The Canyon Torque:On 8 was different though. In hindsight, that really was to be expected. The smaller 27.5″ front wheel has less rollover abilities compared a 29″ wheel. And the short rear end favours playfullness and a faster steering. Check out the video for the whole story.

Over the last few months, I’ve been spending some time on the 27.5″ wheeled long travel Canyon Torque:On 8. The particular model that I’ve been testing varies substantially compared to the US version that’s available to the public, due to different specs. However, it shares the same of the aluminum frame, motor, battery and in house bits such as the cockpit. For the bulk of this test I’ll be primarily focused on ride characteristics such as handling and duty as well as battery/power delivery. There isn’t much sense getting too far into the weeds over the details of components since

No shuttle, no problem! The Canyon Torque:ON 9 feels like an MX bike in the air and beams you straight to the trailhead. But the added weight doesn't just come with bring advantages. Read our full review on to find out how the Torque:ON eMTB fared against its analogue opponents in our bike park group test.
Shuttle included in the price (only as long as the battery lasts)
Very stable in the air
Excellent traction in open corners and on technical terrain
Background noise of the EP8 motor and chain rubbing against the tire
High weight makes the bike stick to the trail
Limited support from the rear suspension
Brake rotor with the wrong pads

When it comes to evaluating the Canyon Torque On, it's impossible to not discuss the polarizing duality of how it performs.
One of the best descenders
Killer suspension feel
Snappy, fun, spritely
Price
Looks good
BB is WAY too low
Constant crank/pedal strikes while pedaling
504Wh Battery

Canyon Torque:ON 9 is Canyon's newest electric mountain bike boasts both catlike agility and big travel… can it really balance both?
Big travel enduro e-bike, but with genuinely playful ride characteristics. Great geometry. The spec is excellent, and the price is great too.
The EP8 feels underpowered next to Bosch, and the 504Wh battery isn’t big enough.
