The Canyon Grand Canyon:ON AL 9.0 pairs a smooth Shimano E8000 drive unit with a sleek looking aluminium hardtail frame that integrates the 504Wh battery into the downtube. Thanks to fat 2.6" tyres, it's a smoother and more capable ride than you'd expect, offering decent off-road performance without the extra expense of full suspension.

Light and lively traditional XC machine at a good price, but unsuitable for rougher play. Buy if you're a fan of more traditional XC riding and aren't tempted by the toughest of terrain
Light, lively and well-equipped bike in a classic XC-speed style
Frame is dated but still rides really smoothly if the shape suits you
Traditional handling and lack of easy dropper post addition undermine rough-riding confidence
