Summary
The Canyon Spectral is a highly capable trail bike praised for its excellent value and fun, playful handling. It features plush suspension with great small-bump sensitivity and mid-stroke support, making it adept at descending and navigating technical terrain. However, some reviews note geometry and fit issues for taller riders, and it may not be the most stable at high speeds.
Excellent value and competitive pricing
Playful and agile handling for technical trails
Plush suspension with good small-bump sensitivity
High-quality components for the price
Comfortable and efficient on climbs
Geometry and fit issues for taller riders
Less stable at high speeds and on demanding trails
Not the most efficient climber due to suspension and weight
Some components like brakes and tires may underperform for certain riders
The Spectral might just be my favorite 'trail' bike I’ve ridden in a long time.
An agile and comfortable – rather than flat-out fast – trail bike, the Spectral is hard to fault for the cash.
It’s a playful, mischievous bike that loves being thrashed about, preferably downhill, at speed, on rough and chundery trails.
Once you turn its nose downhill, the Spectral WMN shines with a very playful character and becomes a true fun machine.
Pound for pound, there is no better 27.5in trail bike

The updated, longer-legged Canyon Spectral has conservative numbers on paper that make for innovative riding on the trail.

Canyon have reworked the bike, giving it more travel among other updates. But is the Canyon Spectral CF 7.0 still as versatile as before?
Capable and lively rear suspension
Look and quality of the bike
Loves demanding terrain
Value for money
Flat trails require an active riding style
Underpowered brakes

Outstanding spec and proven suspension make for an exhilarating ride — if it fits you
Fast, capable and agile handling makes short work of techy trails
The direct-sell model means an amazing spec for the money
Ergon’s GE10 grips are super-comfy and shock absorbing
430mm reach is the shortest on test, and too cramped for a 5ft 8in rider
No back-up from your friendly local bike shop

Winner of our 2018 Trail Bike of the Year test, the Canyon Spectral proved beyond a shadow of doubt that it really is the compete package.
Lightweight and very capable.
Rear suspension is too progressive.

Canyon's Spectral WMN has 140mm of travel, 27.5" wheels, and uses an entirely different frame than the men's version.
Playful on descents
Lightweight
Well thought out details like cable management system
Long 440mm seat tube height on the size medium
Ardent rear tire doesn't provide much traction
Not super plush in rough terrain

Canyon's Spectral WMN CF 9.0 SL is the top flight trail bike for women but tweaks make it fundamentally different from the men’s mountain bike in terms of suspension, geometry and spec. Although the suspension is well tuned, conservative design makes it more of a cross-country machine than a true trail ripper.
