Summary
The Canyon Lux is a lightweight and efficient cross-country race bike designed for speed and climbing performance. It features a progressive suspension system that provides stability and prevents bottoming out, making it capable on descents as well. While it excels in smooth and technical terrain, some reviews note limitations in traction and suspension harshness on more challenging trails.
Light and efficient climber
Capable descender with stable handling
Progressive suspension design
Includes dropper post for versatility
High-value component package
Stiff or unintuitive lockout lever
Limited traction on rough terrain
Suspension can feel harsh
Higher price point for top models
Throw in the included dropper post and with that comes the ability to just be a regular mountain bike, capable for a lot of general purpose cross-country trail riding, and ready to pin a number on to go fast too.
We reckon this is one of, if not the most well-rounded XC race bikes on the market right now
Quite possibly the fastest cross country race bike on the market
Canyon's Lux CF SL 8.0 Race is a super high value and blisteringly quick cross-country race bike that can also take some rapid trail riding in its stride.
It's a speed machine on smooth ground.Pinkbike

Relatively speaking, it feels like you’re a long way over the front of the Lux when descending and, while I tried riding with and without the seat down, I was really glad this bike had a dropper post for steeper sections.
Ultra efficient feel on smooth, less technical climbs
Shimano XTR gear ratios, great shifting under load
It has a dropper, even if the setup isn't ideal
$2,500 USD less than the closest priced bike
Relatively harsh feeling suspension
Geo holds it back when the terrain is challenging

Dec 2019
Adorned with 29in wheels and 100mm of rear wheel travel, the Lux is Canyon's super light, full suspension XC speedster. Brand new for 2019, the latest generation Lux has been completely re-engineered with a new carbon fibre chassis that shares very little in common with the old model. Read on for the full review.
The lightweight, practical and spacious frame design
Fantastic power transfer
Razor-sharp handling
Love the trick Quixle rear axle!
Dual lockout creates a very stiff, awkward lever throw
The SID fork isn't the most supple performer
The unloveable Selle Italia saddle

Canyon's Lux CF SL 8.0 Race is a super high value and blisteringly quick cross-country race bike that can also take some rapid trail riding in its stride. The suspension and geometry work well for the intended task but the Gripshifter is a very odd component choice that undermines control and needs changing. The best mountain bikes you can buy for under £1,500 - full sus and hardtails Is it worth converting your mountain bike to tubeless?

Canyon Lux CF SLX 9.0 Pro Race sticks to 100mm of rear wheel but it now has both 100mm and 110mm front travel options dependent which model you choose.
Almost perfect balance of XC race weight and trail bike handling.
Component spec.
Climbs like you have a motor.
Handlebar could be a little wider.

Canyon has crafted a pure XC race bike with balanced, aggressive geometry, premium components, and a suspension platform meant for World Cup racing.

The Lux isn't trying to be an XC/trail hybrid. It has one goal in mind—efficiency.
