The 2026 Pivot Mach 4 SL bridges the gap between short travel trail bikes and most dedicated XC options. Adding to this versatility are several features typically excluded on bikes of this travel range, including in frame storage and a suspension adjusting flip chip. I found the 120 mms of DW link suspension to be impressively efficient and high strung while climbing and on meandering single track, while also being surprisingly plush confidence inspiring on steeper, more technical descents. That said, it’s a bit on the heavier side when compared to many XC bikes on the market, and not quite as capable as its more trail bike leaning competitors. But if you’re looking for a happy medium, and have the money to pay for it, the new Mach 4 SL is a stellar bike.
