The 5010 gets a bigger front wheel and a few tweaks to its geometry and frame features.

The latest Santa Cruz 5010 sees a move to mullet but the travel resolutely remains the same: 130mm at the rear, 140mm fork up front.

The Santa Cruz 5010 turns parking lots into a funfair and the trails into a playground. If you're after an agile bike with intuitive handling, you're looking in the right direction. But what are the pros and cons of small 27.5” wheels? And can the 5010 keep up with the competition when things get fast?
Very high fun factor and super agile handling
Good-natured and intuitive
Very comfortable on long rides
Tiring and demanding on rough sections
Brakes overheat quickly

The new 5010 is more composed and capable than ever, but thankfully still delivers when it comes to fun. This particular build certainly isn’t cheap though
Climbs incredibly well
Easy to set up
Really capable and stable at speed considering it’s only got 130mm of travel
Responsive, fun feel
Not quite as playful as its predecessor
This build is seriously pricey
Dec 2020 · Jeremy Benson
The Santa Cruz 5010 CC XO1 RSV is a well-rounded mid-travel trail bike with a fun-loving attitude. Built around "fun-sized" 27.5-inch wheels and 130mm of...
Excellent build
Snappy and playful
Feels like it has more travel than it does
Expensive
Not the best small bump compliance
Flip-chip is hard to access

Santa Cruz’s 5010 is a mountain bike to the very core. It does not promise anything but a fun time and delivers like few bikes do.

The 4th-generation Santa Cruz 5010 refuses to grow up. Fancy linkage, more front travel and new geo won't keep it from playing in the sandbox.
Jun 2020 · Guy Kesteven
The mid-travel, mid-sized wheel 5010 has always been the rowdy rider's bike in the Santa Cruz range. We test the brand-new fourth-generation bike to see if some big changes have altered its chaos-loving character
Exceptional shock control for a 130mm bike
More stable, but still dynamically agile
Super accurate but damped frame and wheel feel
Excellent pedalling kick without excess feedback
Steep seat angle for rock crawler climbs
Lifetime frame and wheel warranty
Fully loaded with practical ‘easy, extended life’ features
Maximum control build kits
New Extended Eagle gearing
‘C’ bikes are relatively good value
Not as naturally fast or stable as a 29er (but more fun)
Grippy tyres
Pick up lag on the hub
Geometry chip is awkward to adjust
High quality equals high price
CC frame isn’t much lighter than C
