How did the YETI SB140 LR T3 X0 fare against the competition in our big 2024 trail bike group test?
Excellent all-rounder
Outstanding rear suspension performance
Agile handling
Neither tool mount nor storage compartment
Tires don’t do justice to the character of the bike

The Yeti SB140 LR isn't significantly different from the outgoing SB130, which is good. The retired model was one of our favorite trail bikes and set our...

This Lunch Ride edition Yeti SB140 ups capability enough without losing the easy-to-live-with vibe that makes it so versatile
Comfortable and versatile all-rounder
Slick frame styling
Finish befits the steep price
Expensive compared to equivalent bikes from more mainstream brands
Not as light as some other ‘pure’ trail bikes

Recently, Yeti revamped and updated most of the bikes in their lineup and in doing so they re-shuffled the deck, so to speak. The 29″ SB130 was replaced with the 29″ SB140 that is currently on test in this article. The 27.5″ SB140 of old became the new SB135 and kept its smaller wheels. The updates to the Yeti SB140 have brought the geometry right up to date and made maintaining it easy with a trustworthy build specification. The bar height is a little too low for my liking and it can't be labelled as "good value for money" but it sure is a solid and reliable trail bike if your pockets can take the hit.

It's new, it's purple, and it's pricey. Find out how the SB140 performed on Whistler's technical climbs and descents.
Well rounded, capable in most terrain
Great technical climber, with plenty of traction
Comfortable overall feel
Not as surefooted in the steeps compared to some of the other bikes on test
Some riders may want higher rise bars, especially considering the short headtube & low stack
