Summary
The Vitus Sommet is a downhill bike praised for its good value, race-ready geometry, and supportive suspension platform, making it a competitive option in its category. It offers a lively, fun ride feel and is capable on various terrains, though some riders note it can feel over-damped for lighter riders and lacks some confidence in highly technical sections. The bike's suspension is highlighted for its smoothness and control, with particular praise for the Fox Float X2 Shock and RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate shock.
Good value
Race-ready geometry
Supportive suspension platform
Lively, fun ride feel
Capable on various terrains
Over-damped for light riders
Lacks confidence in highly technical sections
Rear suspension may require tuning for aggressive riders
Four grand is a lot of money to pay for anything, but you can shop around all you like; you’ll be hard pushed to find components of this caliber on most other brands’ enduro bikes at less than £5,000.
The Sommet 297 AMP is a seriously fun bike to ride.
The Vitus Sommet 297 AMP is every bit as smooth an operator as plenty of top-level 29in enduro bikes.

The Vitus Sommet 297 CRS is an enduro bike, aimed at riders who tackle steeper, rougher tracks and also fancy cable tying a race number on.

The Sommet is an easygoing long-travel machine, and it's well spec'd for the price.
Long-travel and active suspension is great for plowing
Geometry strikes a good balance between stability and agility
Good value, especially the other models in the range
Not the most upright climbing position and there's some pedal bob too
XL size needs a higher bar
The suspension isn't as supportive and stable as some bikes

There are three levels of Vitus Sommet 29 and all share the exact same frame with its carbon front end. The Sommet 29 CRS Vitus brings colour to every ride.
Neutral handling, killer build.
No low-speed adjuster on rear shock.

Offers stonking value for money and delivers a controlled, composed ride
Lively, energetic feel
Composed and stable when things get rough
Incredible value includes carbon mainframe frame with top-end kit bolted to it
Doesn’t feel quite as planted or as forgiving as the best in category
Fox 38 can feel a little over-damped for lighter riders
