The Vitus E-Escarpe electric mountain bike doesn't get a hidden battery or carbon frame, but it delivers an addictive ride at an impressive price.
Function over form makes for a rewarding, engaging ride. Top end components at a great price.
Smaller battery and older motor don’t quite match the competition. Standover could be better. Cable routing could be cleaner.

The E-Escarpe has a kit list to die for, but it’s not as balanced as Vitus’s longer-travel E-Sommet
Feels fast, light and lively almost everywhere
Parts choice and value is exceptional throughout the E-Escarpe range
Not quite as gung-ho as YT’s Decoy on the most DH-focused trails
Rider weight isn’t quite as perfectly poised and balanced as on some bikes also on test
