Summary
The Vitus Sommet is a highly regarded downhill bike, praised for its race-ready geometry, supportive suspension platform, and excellent value. It offers a smooth, comfortable ride with superb sensitivity and grip, making it ideal for fast, rough sections. However, some riders note it can feel over-damped for lighter riders and lacks a bit of support in the rear suspension.
Good value
Very supportive suspension platform
Race-ready geometry
Smooth and comfortable ride
Excellent grip and sensitivity
Over-damped for light riders
Rear suspension lacks support
Not the most efficient climber
Four grand is a lot of money to pay for anything, but you can shop around all you like; you’ll be hard pushed to find components of this caliber on most other brands’ enduro bikes at less than £5,000.
The Vitus Sommet 297 AMP is every bit as smooth an operator as plenty of top-level 29in enduro bikes.
The Sommet is in its element on fast, rough sections, where the long front centre and active suspension allow you to plow through the rough and look further ahead.Pinkbike

The Vitus Sommet 297 CRS is an enduro bike, aimed at riders who tackle steeper, rougher tracks and also fancy cable tying a race number on.

The Sommet is an easygoing long-travel machine, and it's well spec'd for the price.
Long-travel and active suspension is great for plowing
Geometry strikes a good balance between stability and agility
Good value, especially the other models in the range
Not the most upright climbing position and there's some pedal bob too
XL size needs a higher bar
The suspension isn't as supportive and stable as some bikes

There are three levels of Vitus Sommet 29 and all share the exact same frame with its carbon front end. The Sommet 29 CRS Vitus brings colour to every ride.
Neutral handling, killer build.
No low-speed adjuster on rear shock.

Offers stonking value for money and delivers a controlled, composed ride
Lively, energetic feel
Composed and stable when things get rough
Incredible value includes carbon mainframe frame with top-end kit bolted to it
Doesn’t feel quite as planted or as forgiving as the best in category
Fox 38 can feel a little over-damped for lighter riders

The Vitus Sommet 27 is a long travel enduro bike that has a budget price and big aspirations. The frame is a good platform for an all-mountain or race weapon but there are some questionable spec choices that mean this isn’t as good value as you might first think.
