Summary
The Vitus Sommet is a highly regarded enduro bike, praised for its impressive agility, efficient suspension, and exceptional value. It's described as a fun, capable package that excels in a variety of riding conditions, from technical descents to steep climbs. The bike's design, while slightly dated in some aspects, offers a robust and fast ride with a lively feel.
Highly adjustable suspension for good feel
Impressive agility and acceleration
Exceptional value for money
Robust and fast with a lively ride
Well-specced components across builds
Slightly dated design in some models
Rear-end flex noticeable in rough conditions
Some components may not suit all riders
Taller frame and quirky pedalling character in some versions
Top-fun steed that shames a lot of ‘superbikes’
It climbs like a demon and descends like a Jack Russell on the scent or a lively rat
The Sommet VR isn’t perfect, but sure is killer value, and can do a job that’s virtually unique at this price point.

The 155mm rear travel Sommet is Vitus’ enduro/all mountain bike available in both aluminium and carbon frame options. This well-specced VR version is the cheapest, but it still nails the essentials for smashing around the woods or dipping your toes into enduro racing. With quality RockShox suspension and essentials like a dropper post and grippy tyres, the VR was already a good deal at two grand, but this year’s model now has another £300 off, making it even more attractive.

An incredibly engaging and fun ride for the price, the Vitus Sommet is stunning value.

Occasional ragged-edge precision issues, but still a responsive, addictively fun bargain. Buy if you're happy to look beyond more glamorous brands for an excellent economy enduro bike
Blissfully well balanced, smooth yet supportive and efficient-pedalling suspension
Impressively light and well equipped for the money
Lower ride height is welcome but making it longer too would be even better
Small control compromises can add up at the ragged edge

Big changes this year at Vitus; we test the new 160mm Sommet Pro
The slick design and high-end parts package don’t disappoint
The ‘V-Link’ suspension could focus more on pure DH performance
