Summary
The Trek Powerfly is a highly capable trail e-MTB, praised for its powerful Bosch motor, adjustable geometry via Mino Link, and robust suspension system. It excels in climbing and offers a fun, stable ride across varied terrain, though its weight and battery life can be limiting factors.
Powerful Bosch Performance CX motor for efficient climbing
Adjustable geometry with Mino Link for versatile riding
Robust suspension system for smooth trail performance
Stable and confident handling on descents
Good range with 500Wh battery for longer rides
Heavy weight affects maneuverability and playfulness
Battery life may require careful management on long rides
Some models lack space for a water bottle
Motor can be noisy at high RPM
Railing an uphill berm is pretty freaking fun.Bicycling
The Trek’s geometry is inspired, the shock tune correct and the bike always feels planted.
This is an excellent electric mountain bike with one of the best drive systems currently available, my personal favorite, and it’s probably going to be easier to find in person and test ride than a lot of competitors.

Trek’s new 2019 Powerfly gives no mixed messages about its intentions. It is chunky, long, robust and built like a tank. With 160/150mm of travel, 40mm wide rims with 2.8″ tyres, e-bike specific FOX 36 the spec is undoubtedly up for a thrashing, and the chassis also. The newly integrated battery does wonders in making a …
Built tough.
Bosch E-MTB setting feels natural.
Fearless climber.
Length detracts from agility.
Heavy to move around.

An exceptionally capable package which will take you further and faster without the need for a lift pass. Buy if you’d like to scale climbs almost as quickly as descents and aren’t afraid to be a little different
Long wheelbase makes for almost absurd stability, superb mechanical grip from well-matched and supportive suspension, Drivetrain and motor play very well together, components list features plenty of excellent e-bike specific parts
Flimsy tyres are at odds with the rest of the bike, New ‘e-mtb’ power mode perhaps a little too keen for some

A full suspension trail bike from one of the "big three" brands in the US, it offers 130 mm travel with custom tuning for the added weight and power of the bike, excellent weight distribution
Quick-release wheels, removable battery, and removable display make the bike flexible and easy to transport or charge, integrated Micro-USB charging port on the display panel to top your phone or GPS
Innovative adjustable length seat stays, knock-block steering with failsafe rubber guard and longer axles showcase how Trek is pushing bike technology forward, sturdy skid plate and minimalist guide
A bit heavier than expected at ~50.1 lbs, no bottle cage bosses, the Bosch CX drive system produces a bit more noise but offers excellent torque, battery is not as hidden or integrated as some competing models

The Trek Powerfly is a very well sorted package and was one of the first e-bikes to win us over.
