Reviews

Summary

The Transition Repeater is an enduro eMTB praised for its excellent climbing performance, thanks to a steep seat tube angle and powerful Shimano EP8 motor. Its suspension is supple and forgiving, offering great small-bump absorption and mid-stroke support for composed descents. However, some reviews note issues with value for money and a tendency for the rear shock to top out.

Pros
  • Excellent climbing performance

  • Supple and forgiving suspension

  • Powerful Shimano EP8 motor

  • Balanced and responsive handling

  • Comfortable for extended rides

Cons
  • Value for money concerns

  • Rear shock tends to top out

  • Relatively small battery capacity

  • Noisy motor operation

  • Internal cable routing challenges

For a bike brand which has carved out a well-rounded reputation for delivering a large quiver of naturally aspirated bikes with a real gravity orientated background, I guess it was no surprise and just matter of time before Transition Bikes delved into ‘Turbo Mode’ and included an eMTB to their already impressive line-up of Mountain Bikes. Jan 2023 · Felix Rauch

The 2022 Transition Repeater AXS Carbon. Converting the former ebike haters with its Shimano EP8 motor and excellent spec.

Highs
  • Faultless choice of components

  • Intuitive handling

  • Capable suspension

Lows
  • Cumbersome through the corners

Review: 2022 Transition Repeater - The Electric Sentinel

Mar 2022 · Mike Kazimer

It does feel more alive at higher speeds versus picking and poking down a technical line. Those higher speeds make it easier to really lean into the turns, and to take advantage of all the traction that comes from the extra weight of the motor around the bottom bracket area.

Highs
  • Well thought out parts spec

  • Good traction and supportive suspension

  • Great high speed stability

Lows
  • Headset design adds unnecessary inconvenience

  • Battery capacity is good, but not the best

  • The typical EP8 gripes still apply – it rattles, and the display could be better
