Summary
The Scott Speedster gravel bike series is praised for its comfortable ride quality, stable geometry, and modern specifications suitable for a variety of road conditions. While it excels in comfort and handling, its weight and mechanical disc brakes are noted as drawbacks. The bike is often compared to the Scott Addict for its performance and value.
Comfortable long distance ride
Stable geometry with no handling surprises
Modern spec with wide clearances for wide tyres
Good endurance position without being too laid back
Full Tiagra groupset and quality own brand components
Quite heavy
Mechanical disc brakes less effective than hydraulic
Alloy frame doesn't offer the smoothest ride
Limited tyre clearance
Slower climbing due to weight
Like a kid named Butch, the Scott Speedster has a name that was always going to be difficult to live up to.
The Scott Speedster is one of those bikes that just feels really comfortable to take out for a longer explore.
Smart, solid and satisfying and, although not as fast as the name suggests, it’s a fine ride
If adventure is in your blood, there are better options out there.

Scott has a long history of working with aluminium alloy and carbon fibre, so it’s not really surprising that the company uses both materials for its cyclocross bikes. At one end of the spectrum, there is the cost-conscious Speedster CX that has an alloy frame, and at the other, there is the weight-conscious Addict CX […]
