Summary

The Scott Genius is a versatile enduro bike praised for its adaptable suspension, lightweight design, and innovative features like the TwinLoc system. It offers a balanced ride with improved geometry for both climbing and descending. However, some reviews note issues with component placement and tire performance in certain conditions.

Pros
  • Adaptable suspension with TwinLoc system

  • Lightweight design for an enduro bike

  • Improved geometry for balanced handling

  • Versatile wheel size options

  • Innovative features like flip chip for wheel size adjustment

Cons
  • TwinLoc remote placement can be awkward

  • Some models have basic componentry

  • Tire performance varies by condition

  • Alloy frames add weight in certain builds

Key Quotes
29 or 27.5 plus: There are stock options with either size, but every Genius can switch between the two with the flip of a chip.

"The big tires boost confidence, providing extra traction on technical climbs and more forgiveness through jumbled lines."
Bicycling
The Scott Genius 920 is definitely a contender If you’re into shredding singletrack, big rides and climbing. It’s efficient but it’s also a lot of fun.

SCOTT Genius 950 2020 on test – Long travel, confidence-inspiring, and a lot of potential

Aug 2020 · Christoph Bayer

If we had the choice, we would almost prefer to choose the SCOTT Genius 950 over the flagship model from our last trail bike group test. Check out our review to find out why and what this bike is capable of.

Highs
  • Riding position instils you with confidence

  • Efficient climber

  • Very comfortable

Lows
  • Wide tires make handling feel vague

  • Minimal tire clearance in the rear triangle

  • TwinLoc has to be used as otherwise the bike will bob as you pedal

Scott Genius 920 review

Mar 2018

Scott's all-new Genius range packs 150mm of travel into a chassis with progressive geometry and your choice of 650b or 29er wheels, both shod with extra fat rubber. This Genius 920 sits near the top of the range, using a carbon front triangle paired with an alloy rear and 29" wheels. Overall, it's a hugely impressive long travel trail bike but this particular build has a few componentry bugbears.
