a seething matte-black carbon weapon that looked like it wanted to go straight to Europe and kick people’s teeth in.
the most serious race bike it has ever made

Getting the Santa Cruz Blur ready for the upcoming BC Bike Race has meant some changes to spec and getting used to piloting an XC bike.
Capable in XC conditions
Surprisingly good with 100mm travel
Tires provide great traction
Handling insanely good steering precision
Fox 34 Step Cast fork supple off top and supportive mid stroke
Fox Float DPS shock crisp and responsive
Climbing still good with geometry changes
Seat tube slackens by 0.9 degrees in XL
Climb better with steeper seat tube angle
Longer travel needed for fatigue late in race
Stock tires not trusted for long race stages
Rear shock finds limit on successive high-speed hits

A couple of spec niggles can’t stop this being one of the best cross-country rigs out there – an object of desire for any XC racer
Great geometry gives fast yet dependable handling
Active, comfortable suspension eats up trail chatter with ease
Overall, an impressive spec list
You’ll be using the TwistLoc a fair bit on smooth-surfaced climbs
Fox’s Transfer SL dropper isn’t quite to my taste

No one can accuse Santa Cruz of jumping on the XC bandwagon; along with the V10, the original Santa Cruz Blur helped pioneer its VPP suspension.
Punches well above its weight
Rear suspension is too active when pedaling

The new Santa Cruz Blur is lighter and more supple than its predecessor. It lacks some VPP get-up-and-go, but that's not a bad thing.

When it comes to mountain biking in 2019, the weather has not been kind. My time on the Santa Cruz Blur TR started with a trip to Sicily for the Pirelli Scorpion Tire launch, only to have the original ride snowed out. Things weren’t much better after arriving at home with constant rain keeping the …

As far as contemporary XC bikes go, the latest generation Blur from Santa Cruz Bicycles ticks a lot of boxes (registration)

Dec 2018
After a long absence from the Santa Cruz lineup, the Blur moniker is back on a new school cross country rocket ship. A thoroughbred full-suspension XC bike has been missing from the Santa Cruz family since the non-Boosted Tallboy II. The trend toward trail geometry and Boost shifted the Tallboy into more of a trail bike.
