Summary
The Rondo Ruut gravel bike series, including both carbon and aluminum models, is praised for its innovative features like the TwinTip adjustable geometry and sub-compact double drivetrain, offering versatility across terrains. While the carbon frameset and variable geometry fork enhance ride quality and handling, some models face criticism for spec niggles and underperformance in certain components. The Ruut stands out for its unique design and functionality but competes closely with models like the Canyon Grail 7 and Ribble CGR AL.
Adjustable geometry via TwinTip system
Sub-compact double drivetrain with wide, low gearing
Variable geometry carbon fork improves handling
Good on long days out with long reach
Plenty of mounting options for bikepacking
Fiddly geometry swap
Underpowered brakes with little adjustment
Slow shifting and frequent mis-shifts with SRAM Apex drivetrain
Spec doesn't stack up against competition
Complex and time-consuming to change settings
Rondo is adding something revolutionary to their Ruut 2x gravel bikes for 2021, gasp… a front derailleur.
It’s not a cheap bike, though, and with its spec niggles there are probably better options out there if you’re looking to drop £4,000 on a gravel bike.
The RUUT AL1 is a great looking bike with an almost industrial aesthetic.

The Rondo RUUT AL1 is a gravel bike that offers adjustable geometry via a TwinTip system built into the fork. The adjustments are subtle, but whatever the setting the RUUT is masses of fun to ride – though it doesn't stack up for spec against its competition. Novel technology that works to deliver two rides, one racier than the other – and both are great
Plush road and all-road bike with adjustable geometry and quality kit
Some may find the 42x11 top gear a little low
