Summary
The Rocky Mountain Vertex is a highly regarded cross-country bike, praised for its lightweight carbon fiber frame, impressive stiffness, and versatile performance suitable for both racing and trail riding. Its geometry and suspension setup contribute to a ride that's lively, snappy, and comfortable over rough terrain. While it excels in efficiency and handling, some components like the stock tires and saddle may not meet everyone's preferences.
Lightweight carbon fiber frame
Impressive stiffness and reasonable comfort
Versatile performance for cross-country racing and trail riding
Efficient under power with negligible flex
Comfortable and aggressive fit for long rides
Stock tires may not suit all riders
Firm saddle may not be comfortable for everyone
Some components like brakes can get noisy in certain conditions
The Vertex 990 RSL is one of the nimblest 29ers we’ve ridden.
this Canadian brand makes a mighty fine cross country race weapon too
The weight is freakishly low for a bike that can be ridden off-road in any meaningful fashion
