The Front Range of ColoRADo snowshoe traffic transforms the same uber technical and mountainous terrain we ride in the summer into wild and well packed singletrack. We developed the REEBdonkadonk Fatbike to rip the climbs and descents of two foot wide snowshoe packed singletrack with the same aggressive riding as our hardtail mountain bikes. The REEBdonkadonk features the big time (26” x 4.5” or 27.5” x 4”) tire clearance and shorter chainstays (20mm shorter) with sliding dropouts to tuck the rear wheel where it best fits those big meaty tires. The beefy 44mm headtube and 1 3/4“ downtube are paired with a 67 degree HT angle and 31.6mm seat tube was shortened to fit modern dropper seatposts in increase standover. Letting it all hang out on the ragged edge with less consequences of falling into deep snow translates to faster descending times and bigger smiles on winter singletrack than summer on our technical terrain. Seeing your backyard trails in a totally different way (and often at night) and wrecking your buddy in the snow makes the imperial stout and whiskey warmer taste that much better. A 27.5″ steel frame hardtail fat bike with high-end components.

It’s heavy, massively long, sluggish and unstable at even the slowest speeds. No, I’m not talking about REEB’s Donkadonk fat bike. I’m referring to the Powder Chinchilla, the tracksled groomer Gunnison Trails uses to groom 14 miles of singletrack at Hartman Rocks just south of my home in Gunnison, Colorado. While snowmobiles are the obvious choice for snow travel and related winter tasks, the skis are a bit too wide to groom singletrack trails.
