Dedicated hardtail brand Ragley has all bases covered with the Ragley Blue Pig being the entry-level 27.5in steel offering with regular-size tyres.

Ragley's all-new Blue Pig Race might cost as much as a well-sorted full sus trail bike, but if you prefer hardtail thrashing thrills then it's one of the best. Smooth and stable chassis keeps things calm when you get rowdy
The frame doesn’t need expensive tubing for a quality feel, and sells for £550 on its own
Complicated seatstay profile irons out bump forces transmitted up through the back wheel
