Summary

The Propain Tyee is a versatile enduro bike that excels in both climbing and descending, offering a stable and composed ride with impressive pedaling efficiency. Its playful handling and well-supported suspension make it a blast to ride, though it may not be the most supple option in its category. Custom spec configuration and neat frame touches add to its appeal, despite some minor drawbacks like potential pedal-kickback and a longer wait time for delivery.

Pros
  • Impressive pedaling efficiency

  • Versatile master of climbing and descending

  • Playful handling

  • Custom spec configuration

  • Well-supported suspension

Cons
  • Potential pedal-kickback in rough terrain

  • Long wait time for delivery

  • Not the most supple ride in its category

Key Quotes
The first thing you notice is how well this bike pedals, even with a coil shock I didn’t need to reach for the lockout lever when pedalling uphill.
BikeRadar logoBikeRadar
The Tyee provides a brilliant pedalling platform for an enduro bike and handling characteristics that make riding it easy.
BikeRadar logoBikeRadar
While it is not the most supple and forgiving bike out there, the Tyee 29’s efficient suspension and fun handling could make it a great choice for a rider looking for an all-rounder with long-travel reserves.

Propain Tyee CF 29 2020 first ride review

Jan 2020 · Luke Marshall

It doesn’t mean it feels like a short travel bike, it’s still got the reserves when you’re ploughing down nasty trails, so you don’t have to hold back, but it’s quite a different feeling to the Cube Stereo 170, for example.. .

Highs
  • Impressive pedalling efficiency, even with a coil shock

  • Configurator lets you choose spec

  • A lot of fun if you like a well-supported bike

Lows
  • It may not please some tall riders

  • Long wait once ordered

  • Bottom bracket could be a touch lower
