Summary

The Pivot Switchblade is celebrated as a versatile and capable trail bike, offering a lively ride with sorted suspension and a geometry that balances agility and stability. Its improved dw-link suspension design and modern geometry make it a standout for both climbing and descending, though some note the lack of internal storage and the bike's demand for an active riding style.

Pros
  • Lively and engaging ride

  • Sorted suspension performance

  • Versatile in a broad range of terrain

  • Improved geometry for better handling

  • Option to run a mullet setup

Cons
  • Lack of internal storage

  • Demands an active riding style

  • Build kits are expensive

  • Slack seat angle can feel off on tech climbs

  • Super Boost 157x12mm rear hub spacing limits wheel swaps

Key Quotes
It's a well-sorted, wonderfully intuitive, and fun trail weapon that is seriously capable without being a dull, lifeless ride like some super long and slack bikes can be.

Bike Review | Pivot Switchblade Talon

Apr 2024 · Spencer Astra

It’s been a few years since I had the pleasure of riding the previous Pivot Switchblade. This is a model that has risen to legendary status in my mind. The updated frame has maintained many attributes of the outgoing Switchblade but turned up the dial on speed and stability by just a few notches. I can imagine the development team’s struggle to improve upon the outgoing bike without sacrificing its keen sense of handling and agility. Thankfully, the new bike has the same agile character with a slight tweak toward better high-speed handling and chunk-eating kinematics.
