With prices rising dramatically in the past few years can you still get a real mountain bike for £500? Pinnacle’s Kapur 2 certainly gives it a good go
Excellent value spec including Shimano gearing
Reliable, predictable Shimano hydraulic brakes
Well matched cockpit and handling
Suspension fork adds some comfort and control
Fast rolling and responsive tires
Full range of sizes
Short and upright geometry
Skinny tires mean a firm ride
Needs a bigger front brake rotor
Rebound damping can be clunky

The Pinnacle would be a great first bike; it’s a hoot to ride and feels neither lazy nor nervous
Nippy, agile and fun, the Kapur is an engaging ride
A great bike on which to develop your skills, and feels good on a range of trails
Recon RL is one of the best budget forks with decent adjustability and control
2x9 drivetrain is noisier and less secure than 1x equivalents
Not the best geometry for climbing

Jun 2019 · Alan Muldoon
With progressive geometry and a top quality frame the Pinnacle Kapur 2 has a really nice feel to it – direct and efficient without any jarring.
Lightweight triple-butted frame with great handling
Needs bigger tyres with bigger knobs to bolster traction and increase the BB height slightly
