Pinarello wants to win in all racing categories and the Crossista is their way of hitting the top in cyclocross. Pinarello FCX was the starting point for creating this bike. Pinarello aimed to improve every aspect of this bike to give the Crossista a better balance of speed and ergonomics. Aero concepts were implemented while maintaining ride quality and agility to create a faster and more comfortable machine that will thrive in the quickly progressing sport of cyclocross.
This frame was created with cyclocross-specific ergonomics in mind. Its geometry includes the “Hold on Shoulder” top tube which improves comfort and stability in the crucial running sections of your race. The asymmetrical shape of the frame helps accommodate the rider’s shoulder. A dedicated seat clamp was created for this bike to deal with the expected mud and dirt from cyclocross races. Keeping the front of the seat post hidden from the elements avoids anything that could alter its functionality. Internal cable routing is used for similar reasons. It keeps important components out of danger and gives your bike a clean look.
The front end of the bike features a Onda fork which is dedicated to all-road performance. The shape and flexibility of this fork help to dissipate vibration before it ever reaches the rider. Cyclocross courses are far from forgiving so losing energy due to vibration is not an option. This fork also provides clearance for oversized tires up to 42mm wide. Flexstays provide extra comfort and dampening without taking away any of the precision and responsiveness you need in a cyclocross bike.
The sport of cyclocross is quickly progressing in terms of speed so PInarello struck a balance of aerodynamics with light weight and responsiveness.They took aero concepts directly from the Dogma including the seatpost and Flatback downtube profile for minimum drag under UCI standards. The Crossista frame is made of T700 UD carbon fiber to stay light on climbs and making it easy to carry.
