Summary
The Orbea Gain is a lightweight endurance e-road bike featuring the Mahle X20 hub drive motor for smooth, natural power delivery that enhances rather than dominates the riding experience. Its geometry is optimized for balanced handling and comfort, with clearance for wider tires and integrated lights for practicality. Reviewers praise its ability to provide substantial assistance while maintaining a natural ride feel, making it ideal for extended rides and varied terrain.
Lightweight Mahle X20 hub drive motor
Natural and smooth power delivery
Balanced geometry for excellent handling
Integrated front and rear lights
Customizable through Orbea's MyO program
Heavier than some high-end e-road bikes
Limited to 35 mm tire clearance
Firmer rear due to rear hub motor weight
Orbea gives their versatile Gain road & gravel ebike a lighter and stealthy power boost with an upgrade to the Mahle X20 – the 'lightest e-bike drive system on the market'
The Gain’s ride feel outclasses every e-road bike I’ve tested in the past
The new Gain sure doesn’t look like an e-bike.
It’s intended to allow you to get out and still have a decent intensity cardio workout, but without going into the red – more like you’re just having a really good day on the bike, as opposed to feeling superhuman.
