Summary
The Orbea Oiz is a lightweight, efficient trail bike with modern geometry that excels in both climbing and descending. Its plush suspension and customizable options through the MyO system make it a versatile choice for riders. While it offers excellent performance and value, some may find the internal cable routing and firm suspension less appealing.
Lightweight and efficient for climbing
Modern geometry enhances descending capabilities
Customizable options via MyO system
Plush and deep-feeling suspension
Good value for money in higher-end models
Internal cable routing through the headset
Firm suspension feel on square edge hits
Limited bottle cage clearance
Rear-end tends to skip under braking
Chain slap noise due to minimal chainstay protection
The 2023 Orbea Oiz still manages to weigh in under 10kg, all while improving stiffness to promote climbing efficiency so you can stay on the gas for longer.
This bike absolutely rips up technical XC trails, offering a plusher ride with more grip over rough terrain.
'Serious with a smile' is how I'd catgorize the Oiz – it feels purposeful, a tool for hunting down podiums, but there's also a fun side to it that makes it a very enjoyable (and fast) ride outside of the race tape.Pinkbike

With a modern geometry that is suitable for the latest courses, the Orbea Oiz caters to the needs of cross-country racers. However, it also doubles up as a fun and functional general trail bike. Orbea allows some setup customisation so key components can be changed to suit personal preferences, which may help save you money based on personal fit preferences. Overall, this bike is fast, capable and enjoyable to ride, making it one of the best mountain bikes for cross-country currently available.

Fast is fun and all that, but thankfully Orbea's designers didn't overlook the fact that modern World Cup XC race tracks are getting increasingly technical – there's now 120mm of travel front and rear, and the head angle sits at a moderate 67-degrees, two-degrees slacker than the previous version.
Snappy pedaling performance
Modern geometry allows for faster descending
Dropper posts are spec'd on all models
Thru-headset cable routing
Suspension design reduces small bump sensitivity

Add extra travel to longer geometry and you've got a recipe for downhill success. Orbea has avoided compromising uphill performance, too
Extra travel gives you a get out of jail free card
Geometry is at the forefront of XC design
Fast, up and down
Customisable spec and paint are nice options to have
Squidlock is a little messy on the bars
Super-racey rubber doesn't always inspire confidence

The Orbea Oiz already has two XC world championships in the bag. But that didn't stop Orbea from shaving more than a half a pound from the frame.
