Summary
The Orbea Occam is a versatile trail bike praised for its modern geometry, effective suspension, and customizable options through Orbea's MyO program. It excels in smoothing trail chatter and offers a supple ride quality, though some builds may not suit aggressive trail riding. The bike is frequently compared to the Specialized Stumpjumper and Santa Cruz Bronson for its balanced performance.
Modern geometry and effective suspension
Customizable through Orbea's MyO program
Supple ride quality smoothing trail chatter
Excellent handling and climbing efficiency
Versatile for mixed terrain with lengthy climbs and fast descents
Some builds may not suit aggressive trail riding
Fox 32 fork and narrow rims not ideal for all trail conditions
Steeper head angle may not suit those preferring slacker angles for descents
Despite Orbea’s literal history in making weapons, I didn’t expect its Occam TR to be such a figurative one.
The Occam TR’s rear suspension does a superb job of smoothing trail chatter without any detectable pedal feedback.
Orbea has upped its trail bike game significantly with the Occam.
The Orbea Occam TR is a trail bike that clearly has its DNA in XC bikes, making it an ideal partner for long days in the saddle where covering ground is as important as tackling the descents.
The most striking feature of the new Occam is the asymmetrical frame design.

Despite Orbea's literal history in making weapons, we didn’t expect the Orbea Occam TR M10 to be such a figurative one.

Orbea have split their Occam into two bikes: the Occam AM, and the shorter travel Occam TR that we've got here. How does it go? Barney explains

In the case of Orbea, we’re sure they regret some of their early attempts at dual suspension mountain bikes. Their hardtails have always been tidy, but their past holds some rather nervous, floppy duallies, clearly built with a roadie at the design helm. But full credit to this Basque brand, they’ve completely flipped that situation, and …
Frame looks tough, stiff and well finished.
Modern geometry, short out back, long up front.
32mm fork.
Crying out for a dropper post at this price.

With wider Boost hubs, frame and fork, the Occam TR H30 is a solid and stable package that goes exactly where you point it
Boost axle spacing ensures the Occam feels solid
The Occam TR is packing too much weight
