Orange Stage Evo: first ride on their new 120mm travel 29er rocket - MBR

Jun 2020 · Alan Muldoon

Less is more: the new Orange Stage Evo 29er packs big bike geometry into a nimble 120mm package.

Highs
  • Traditional Orange ride quality in a thoroughly modern package.

  • Perfectly balanced handling encourages you to ride beyond the limits of the 120mm travel.

Lows
  • The Orange grips are too thin and the SDG saddle too firm. Water bottle mount is under the down tube.

Orange Stage 6 RS long-term review

May 2020 · Alex Evans

The Stage 6 is an exceptionally fun to ride, easy to maintain bike that responds best to an active and involved riding style. It’s got good geometry that’s even better on the updated version and the kit performs as well as you’d expect, considering it’s all mid- to high-level parts from well-known manufacturers

Highs
  • The 'feels like home' ride characteristics and infrequent maintenance intervals made me happy

Lows
  • The Monarch Plus RC3 rear shock isn't up to the job, but Orange gives you the option to upgrade when you order the bike

Review: Orange Stage 6 RS

Oct 2018 · Alex Evans

Is Orange's longest travel single-pivot 29er good enough to mix it up with the new-wave of Horst Link, VPP and multi-link bikes? We find out.

Highs
  • Loves to be ridden hard and fast.

  • The bike is consistently predictable no matter how wild you get.

  • A great range of top-tier components really help the bike shine.

  • Designed and manufactured in the UK.

Lows
  • It is quite expensive.

  • Some of the available upgrades probably aren't worth the cash, so choose wisely.

  • The distinctive 'Orange' look can divide opinion.

To the casual observer, the aluminum frame is a simple single-pivot design with massive swing arm, but it demands a closer look. Click thru to hear what makes this bike special. - Mtbr.com
