Summary
The Mondraker Crafty is a high-performance enduro eMTB that excels in stability and traction, making it a favorite among aggressive riders for technical terrain. Its Bosch Performance Line CX motor and 750Wh battery provide powerful assistance, while the Ohlins or Fox suspension components ensure precise handling. However, its weight and long wheelbase can make it less nimble for some riders, and the SRAM G2 R brakes are often cited as inadequate.
Excellent geometry and stability
Powerful Bosch Performance Line CX motor
High-capacity 750Wh battery
Precise handling with Ohlins or Fox suspension
Good traction and confidence on technical terrain
Heavy weight and long wheelbase reduce agility
SRAM G2 R brakes lack stopping power
Fixed battery design limits flexibility
Some models have a steep head angle
Overdamped shock tuning on some models
Mondraker has done a typically awesome job of marrying up two seemingly conflicting characteristics in the Crafty XR.
The Race Motor puts the Crafty XR LTD at the top of the pile, pitching it as Mondraker’s top offering for Enduro eMTB racing.
The Crafty probably isn’t for everyone. Smaller or more timid riders will find it hard to muscle the bike around and ride it dynamically. But for taller, more aggressive riders its stability and traction make it easy to ride technical terrain flat out.

Bosch delivered a prototype bike so we could finally test the Bosch Performance CX Race motor. Attached to that motor was a Mondraker Crafty Carbon. The specs don’t correspond to any of the 2023 models, so we’ll just call it the Crafty. Riding...

I took the RR SL out for a ride around Lausa in Portugal (where the first round of the UCI DH World Cup will be raced in 2020), testing it for one and a half days on loose, rocky, rooty and wet enduro trails. Conditions were far from ideal for testing a bike, so these are initial ride impressions only. Mondraker replaced the stock Maxxis Rekon tyres with a pair of Maxxis Minion DHF/DHR2, with an EXO Plus casing, and its MaxxTerra 3C rubber – a welcome swap
Incredibly impressive rear suspension, backed up by great geometry and very light weight
Very expensive, with compromised battery access and tyres

Mondraker Crafty Carbon is a weight-conscious enduro bike 29er with 160/150mm travel. The first Mondraker e-bike with their Stealth Air carbon construction.
Lightweight with dialled rear suspension. Progressive geometry and sizing for an e-bike. Looks the business.
It’s a ton of cash. Can’t remove the battery easily for charging.
