Merida Big Nine XT review

Apr 2020 · Tom Marvin

Merida's frame-building prowess is on full show here, and it's picked decent kit to plug in to it. It's not the most contemporary of shapes, but the combination of decent ride feel and good value means this is a great option for budding XC racers

Highs
  • Comfortable ride even on longer rides

  • Shimano’s XT gears performed faultlessly, giving precise, smooth shifting regardless of the conditions

  • Rode well on high-intensity fast rides too

Lows
  • The geometry isn’t the most contemporary – a slacker head angle and longer reach would improve descending performance
